`If you’ve lost focus, just sit down and be still. Take the idea and rock it to and fro. Keep some of it and throw some away, and it will renew itself. You need do no more.’ Clarissa Pinkola Estes
Each of us has something that gives us immediate joy.
As we become busy with the important things in life we often forget what these somethings were.
As we reconnect to our creativity these simple joys in our life are renewed.
During the late nineties my `art career’ was established. I had galleries in Australia and overseas. It was an ego filled period in my life, I had created a recognized product that was accepted and in demand, but somehow I had lost the joy of creating.
The work dried up, I was lost and floundering. Change was needed, change on all levels.
I moved to a house with a garden and for over a year became immersed in the garden. I rediscovered simple joys, frogs croaking after rain, orange blossom in spring, picking an orange from my own tree.
I had disappeared from `The Art Scene’ but my spirit denuded of its ego feed was bursting with joy. I was rediscovering it was simple things that actually gave me joy.
Then I found I wanted to paint again. Slowly and not without difficulty I started to express something different.
It is still a daily walk but this time I have a renewed understanding of the source of my inspiration. I have allowed time in my life for silence. From this silence I am able to listen to `The Creative Spirit’ for inspiration.
I walked away from the influence of my ego and the defining role of galleries. It created a wonderful freedom.
