Meaning Of The Riddle Outubro 10, 2007

The night has a thousand eyes
The walls have a hundred ears
And I have but a fleeting moment
To spend eternity with you

It’s a story of two star crossed lovers who are on the run and are being pursued by the parents and relatives of the girl and by a rich and very powerful man and his henchmen. The girl was betrothed to the rich and powerful man through the machinations of her greedy parents. The two lovers met at a public inn to spend their last night together, fearful of being caught by the angry mob.

They could actually feel that the night had a thousand eyes and the walls had a hundred ears, so they concealed themselves in the darkness of the night and whispered in hushed voices their undying love for each other. They have just this one fleeting moment to make love for the last time and end their lives together.

Reminiscent of the tragic love story of Romeo and Juliet, isn’t it? So there goes the answer to the riddle.

Mel,the riddle is brilliant, presented in such romantic way, my heart goes with the lovers..

A typical love story between the rich and the poor!

Gosh…so sad, I never wanna be ended like that!!

Hey Noushy It’s only a riddle and a plot for a future romantic/suspense novel. I just came up with the idea of putting up a riddle to see the response of people and so far only Arthur got 80% correct answer. He was probably just too modest to explain the last part of the riddle which was very obvious. Fleeting moment suggest intimacy and forever connotes a tragic end. Thanks for your usual very generous and kind comments. I treasure them always. Smile. Have a nice and love filled day.

  3. Arthur Says:

You’re right Mel, I was too modest to explain the last part of the riddle.

You know, I couldn’t explain it freely ‘cause those topics (sex, making love…) make me feel a little bit uncomfortable, you know.

    Big greetings and big hugs

Sweet Dreams, from the bottom of my Heart:

That’s okay Arthur, anyway, you were the one closest to guessing the correct meaning of the riddle. Enjoy your trip to the moon, he, he, *lol*. And don’t forget my green cheese. he, he, he, *lol* Smile mi amigo. God bless and have a nice and wonderful weekend.
