VIGORON DE NICARAGUA Agosto 10, 2007

VIGORON NICA

“carne” y los chicharrones con carne o gruesos adheridos a la piel;

4 TOMATES ROJOS

1 CEBOLLA

VINAGRE DE GUINEO O DE FRUTAS

SAL AL GUSTO

PROCEDIMIENTO:

Se pica el repollo en lascas finas y los tomates en picadillo no tan fino;

¡BUEN PROVECHO!

Homero.

Living a life of lasting happiness

Can one live a life of lasting happiness?

Most cultures emphasizes happiness and pleasure in life, the natural tendency is to avoid suffering.Unfortunately, happiness is a transient state that cannot be reached and kept. Happiness never lasts. Happiness is related to the Middle English word “hap” the root meaning come from the word “happenstance”. This implies that happiness is more due to luck, happenstance, than effort. If lucky, we might be happy, at least, for a short time.

Happiness also means,a state of mind or attitude that is induced by the presence of favourable circumstances. To be content means to gratify or fulfill a need or desire. Hence, it represents a state of mind that is induced when a need or desire is fulfilled not necessarily as a result of favourable circumstances.

Too many times people seek happiness as their goal in life, their sole objective. Many times you will hear individuals mutter, “If only I had enough money, an exciting career, a better marriage, a sensitive lover, more time for my leisure activities, was slimmer, etc,I would be really happy”.
All of us at one time or another have felt this way. We begin to equate happiness with the things-objects, talents, people. We don’t have in our lives rather than by things that we do have in our lives.

Often times, we always look for things outside ourselves to make us complete, feel whole and successful. We look to our spouses, lovers, careers, children, friends, hobbies, etc. to validate our existence and to substantiate our worth to ourselves. We expect our partners to make our lives work for us,expect our careers to ease our sense of insecurity about ourselves; some would starve themselves to almost to death in order to look slim, glamorous and sexy for others to accept rather than vanity, buy the latest clothes, cars and accessories so that we can appear to have it all-materialism and etc.

We will do anything that we believe can help us to achieve the state called happiness. A state where all is perfect. Just like Snow White or Cinderella and Prince Charming who lived happily ever after. Then problems arise because too many of us expect that life will be like a fairy tale and are bitterly disappointed when it doesn’t turn out that way.

Happiness…does it feel likes enjoying ice cream?
We can change our clothes, hair, look and relationships in search of that perfect state, but until we focus on changing our attitudes about such ideals as happiness, we will always be looking somewhere else for it or looking for someone else to provide it.

To be happy denotes a state of being that relies on positive experiences to reinforce its existence. So when difficult times occur, you can fall from the state of happiness into the state of fear-anger, depression and chaos, until the negative stimulus is eliminated.

However, to be content denotes a state of mind that is not based upon positive or negative stimulation. It is a feeling akin to peace of mind. To be content means that one accepts all circumstances as part of the natural rhythm of life, the cosmic flow that contains both peaks and valleys.

A contented person accepts themselves for who they are regardless of their faults and talents. They accept others as they are and vice-versa as well as the path upon which they walk. They realize that to be satisfied is an experience without words yet brings them such peace of mind, they need not explain it.

Thus, to be or not to be content is a choice we all have to make. If we continue to look for the ideal state called happiness, we can feel like we are on an emotional roller coaster never knowing when the downs will come with the ups.

However, living in the state known as contentment can be likened to sail or just sitting in a boat on a calm lake. It may not seem as exciting, but to anyone who has done it, it is a most tranquil, peaceful experience and perhaps truly a slice of heaven on earth. For most people,Wealth,Physical appearance,Age,Power/Influence,Children,Possessions,Fame,Education are the major things that maintain lasting happiness in their lives. My question is if you have all these things in your life, would you be really really happy?

Take Action to protect HR defender: Nabeel Ahmed Rajab

Take Action
Since 1 July 2007, human rights defender and Vice-President of the Bahrain Centre for Human Rights (BCHR), Nabeel Ahmed Rajab has faced ongoing harassment and has been followed by civilian vehicles on a daily basis to and from his home. Urge the authorities in Bahrain to conduct an inquiry into the source of the intimidation with a view to identifying those responsible and bringing them to justice.
Target adresses:
H.M Sheikh Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa.
King of Bahrain
Royal CourtOffice of His Highness the Amir
P. O. Box 555
Rifaa Palace
Kingdom of Bahrain
Letter:
Your Excellency,
I would like to express my concern in relation to the ongoing harassment of human rights defender and Vice-President of the Bahrain Centre for Human Rights (BCHR), Nabeel Ahmed Rajab, since 1 July 2007. The BCHR is a non-governmental organisation which works to defend civil, political, economic and social rights in Bahrain.
Since 1 July 2007, Nabeel Rajab has reportedly been the subject of ongoing harassment and has been followed by civilian vehicles on a daily basis to and from his home. In 2005, he had been the target of a smear campaign from an anonymous source in which family members, friends, business associates and Government officials received letters and telephone text messages accusing him of being a “spy” and of committing “acts of treason”.
On 19 July 2005, Nabeel Ahmed Rajab was beaten by police officers whilst attending a peaceful demonstration in solidarity with the Committee for the Unemployed. He suffered a broken finger, a fractured arm and a head injury as a result of the attack. More recently, in October 2006, he was summoned by the Public Prosecutor’s Office for questioning in relation to BCHR’s referral to the ‘Bandargate Scandal’ on its website.
The ‘Bandargate’ scandal refers to the case of Dr Salah Al-Bandar, a former advisor to the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs in Bahrain, who was reportedly charged, in absentia, with seizing government papers for a report he had issued, in which he accused the government of conspiring to marginalize the majority Shia community and attempting to rig the forthcoming parliamentary elections. Reports claim that to date none of the government officials named in the report have been investigated and the government has made no official statement on the allegations.
I am deeply concerned that the ongoing intimidation and harassment of Nabeel Ahmed Rajab is intended to discourage him from carrying out his legitimate peaceful activities in defence of human rights in Bahrain, in particular the rights of freedom of expression and opinion, freedom of assembly and freedom of association.
I urge the authorities in Bahrain to:
1. Conduct a prompt and impartial inquiry into the source of the threats and other forms of intimidation directed towards Nabeel Ahmed Rajab, with a view to identifying those parties responsible and bringing them to justice; 2. Adopt measures to ensure the physical and psychological integrity of Nabeel Ahmed Rajab and his family; 3. Ensure that Nabeel Ahmed Rajab and other human rights defenders in Bahrain, including members of the Bahrain Centre for Human Rights, are free to carry out their activities in the promotion and protection of human rights without fear of intimidation or reprisals.
Yours sincerely,
