Stupid Questions and Their Silly Answers

Q: Birth certificates, why aren’t they being hung on walls like other certificates? You’ve got your distinction certificates, your diplomas, your bachelor degree, your courses, and about every other certificate you have ever received, so why not your birth certificate? When in fact it’s the biggest and most important accomplishment. It’s more important than all the others, actually without this one, the others would have zero chances of existing. So why aren’t you proud of showcasing your birth certificate?

A: I think the reason might be that everyone you know has one too. They were all born, and they all have that certificate. But if that’s the case, then why don’t people hang their death certificates? Everyone else doesn’t have it, yet. So you should feel superior enough. So why won’t you hang that, Ah, you can’t because, first of all, you are dead and even if you somehow could you won’t do it because you won’t be able to brag about it.

—————————

Q: Somehow, it appears that a lot of hotels’ and motels’ rooms hold the ugliest non-comprehensible pieces, and some how they have the audacity to call these crappy things ‘Art’. They buy the cheapest words and copy it a couple of hundred of times and then they hang it on the walls right there for our vulnerable eyes to see. They don’t even warn us. So why is that?

A: Maybe it has a deep hypnotic effect on the subconscious that we don’t know about. Like playing slow relaxing music in supermarkets so people will shop slower and buy more stuff, or playing an upbeat music at factories food halls to hypnotize the workers to eat faster and rush back to work. But what would the effect of those crappy pieces be? Could be to depress the hell out of us so we would go ahead and use the mini bar excessively. Or it would make us so down that we would feel like checking out at all!

This is an ongoing project that I have launched recently; hope you all would benefit from it.

Em Vagon – Augusto Gil

A chaminé vomita fumarada
a máquina assobia, parto enfim!
Na «gare» ao longe, a minha namorada
agita o lenço branco para mim.

Como recatas traçadas a nanquin
sobre um fundo cerúleo de aguada,
vejo no espaço nítidas, assim,
as linhas telegráficas da estrada

O sol, hóstia de luz resplandecente
vai-se elevando gloriosamente
na abóboda vastíssima dos céus

e dois choupos batidos pelo vento
curvam-se num ligeiro cumprimento,
cerimoniosos, a dizer-me adeus…
