Susana Feitor medalhada em Helsinquia Agosto 7, 2005

Susana Feitor conseguiu um surpreendente 3º. lugar nos 20 Km marcha dos Campeonatos do Mundo de Atletismo e arrecadou a medalha de bronze na prova em que fez 1h 28′ e 44″ . A medalha de ouro foi para a russa Olimpiada Ivanova, enquanto a de prata foi para a bielorussa Ryta Turova.

Entretanto, Obikwelu acaba de obter o 4º. lugar na final dos 100 metros a escassos 2 centésimos de segundo dos 2º e 3º classificados. Francis terminou a prova em 10″ 07 contra 9″ 88 do vencedor Jaston Gatlin dos Estados Unidos.

Naide Gomes no heptatlo teve também uma actuação de grande nível ao terminar em 7º.
